Municipal court is the lowest court in the county court system. This court hears violations of municipal or city ordinances. This means that matters can only be heard in Municipal Court if the infraction occurred within the boundaries of municipality (in city limits). Municipal Court only hears criminal matters.

Both standard and gross misdemeanors are heard in Municipal Court.

Disorderly conduct
No valid driver’s license
DUI
Civil Infractions
Civil infractions are violations of the law that carry a penalty or fine but are not punishable by jail time.
Examples:
Speeding
Parking violations
Defective equipment (headlights not working)
